Costa Rica has fantastic weather. Late December to mid April is the dry season so
this is the most pleasent time, of course it's also the time when the surfing spots are at the most crowded. Prices increase greatly during this time and it's very hot.
The rainy season in Costa Rica starts in May and last until the end of Noember, crowds are down at most of the surfing spots and so are prices.
The average temperature (Centigrade) in Costa Rica is in the high 20's! In fact the temerature remains fairly consistent throughout the year, and has more to do with the elavation then the time of year.

Costa Rica gets loads of surf! March to October are the month's when the swell
size in Costa Rica is at it's highest, but you can expext there to be rideable waves all year round. Between December and April the surf is at it's cleanest. As lows reach the Pacific coastline offshore winds are common during this time.
Typically in Costa Rica morning surf's are offshore and in the afternoon there is normally a light onshore breeze.
Along with the consistent surf, Costa Rica is blessed with a large amount of surf spots. There are point breaks in abundance, so if your a fan, head to Costa Rica. The majority of surf spots in Costa Rica are beach bottom, so no need to worry about thoose late drop ins. |
